I am married filing separately and I do not know my spouses Federal Total Income or Federal Adjusted Gross Income. What can I do?

I am married filing separately and I do not know my spouses Federal Total Income or Federal Adjusted Gross Income. What can I do?

You'll both use the same adjusted gross income (AGI) from your originally filed 2017 joint return if you filed jointly.

Enter the full 2017 adjusted gross income (AGI) amount from last year's return, even if your husband earned 100% of the income. Don't allocate or split the AGI, as this will cause a rejection.

You can request a transcript here: https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript If you can’t get your transcript online, you can also request one by mail.

If you still can’t resolve your e-file reject you can always print and mail your tax return(s) instead of electronic filing, you don’t need to provide your AGI to print and mail.
