I am filing as a single dependent, I was asked if a family member has attended college in the past year and i answered no. However, I have. Was I supposed to answer yes?

Am I included as a "family member" or is the question referring to my other family members who aren't me?

I believe you mean that a parent claims you as a dependent on their tax return. If so, then you aren't entitled to an education credit for yourself. So the only reason you would need to indicate that you are a college student is in the unlikely event you have taxable scholarhip income or paid student loan interest, which may be deductible. So you should indicate that you are a college student in the unlikely event it will affect your tax filing.
