The only form of ID that is accepted when going through the ID verification section in TurboTax is your state issued ID or drivers license. You are not required to enter a drivers license or state ID in order to e-file your federal return. It adds an additional layer of security, and helps process your tax return quicker, but you can skip that screen if you want to. Some states are picky and do require an ID to be able to e-file. If you're not able to verify your ID with the state, you may need to paper-file your state return.
