I live with my boyfriend and we have a child together we switch off every other year claiming her. But how do I get to claim the money I paid to daycare on her when he claims the child. This was a question and problem I had the first year she was born. And the tax person said I don't get to claim that money but it feels wrong.

You can not claim expenses for a child that is not also claimed as your dependent. Assuming you and the BF lived together the entire year and the child lived with both on you for the entire year, there's no reason the BF can't claim the expenses, even though you paid them.

Sorry but ALL the child related items ONLY goes to the person claiming the child.  When both parents live with the child then that child can only be listed on ONE tax return ... you cannot split up the child releated items onto 2 separate returns.
