Your post shows you are using the TurboTax online editions.
All you need to do to start is enter your personal information and then continue on through the sections of the program to enter your income and deductions.
Click on My Info on the left side of the online program screen to start entering your personal information.
Unfortunately, the interface people have been trying to make sure first-time users get it right...and include a whole bunch of initial Q&A that have to be done first before you get to the meat of your entries.
Maybe next year they will be convinced to have a FIRST Question..Yes..No "I've used TurboTax before and understand how to use it." So a YES, then skips all of the initial fluff.
Well, I'm using a downloaded version and the "forms" is grayed out.
Maybe I didn't give it enough time to load. It seems to be working now.
Desktop??
Use the interview anyhow for the majority of your entries.
Switch to Forms Mode only if you are really experienced in using them and know exactly how TTX has set them up to work in the software...since many entries can only go in on specific worksheets and certain colored boxes.
But yeah, that's up to you.
Next year you can use desktop software (64-bit operating system required along with other requirements) that has forms mode. you can skip the questions and go directly to the worksheets to fill out without going through all the questions. The worksheets transfer the data to the various tax forms and schedules so you can e-file. Of course, if you miss something, thaa's not covered by the Turbotax accuracy guarantee,
