How to claim the 3rd Stimulus payment Recovery rebate credit on your 2021 return
I completed my e-file through Turbo Tax and got approved by federal. Line 30 with $2,800 for filing marriage joint. (My wife and I earned less than $75k.)
At the end, it turns out IRS has adjusted my amount and took out that $2,800.
And, they points out these errors of reasons of adjustment.
Please advise. Thank you.
@RedDotTer Those are generic reasons why they adjusted the Recovery Rebate Credit on your return. A common adjustment is if you claimed the Recovery Rebate Credit on 1040 line 30 when you already got the 3rd Stimulus payment or reported the wrong amounts. The IRS knows they already sent it to you. Line 30 is only if you didn't get the full amount or qualify more.
Did you get the 2,800 back in March - May 2021? If you didn't get the 3rd Stimulus check but the IRS shows they sent it to you then request a trace for a missing third Stimulus payment

Hi VolveGirl, thanks for the quick reply.
I have confirmed that I have not received $2,800 back in March - May 2021.
(No check made or no direct deposit with that amount.)
Plus, the reasons from IRS do not shown any relations to "received or not received."
According to the details below, I also do not have that "Notice 1444-C" notice shown in my IRS online account. Please advise. Thanks again.

But did you get RIS letter 6475? If you didn't get the 3rd Stimulus check but the IRS shows they sent it to you then request a trace for a missing third Stimulus payment

My federal tax return got accepted on Feb 1, 2022 and the refund was approved but adjusted on March 14, 2022.
And, my wife and I both received The IRS letter 6475 in the mail on March 11, 2022. (The letter listed date is Jan 12, 2022.) One listed $700 and another one listed $2,100.
I hope these details help. Thanks.
That's odd they are not for the same amount , usually each spouse gets half. But anyway, 700+2100=2800. The IRS is saying they sent you the 2,800 so they took it off your return. You have to put a trace on it.
The 6475 notice says:
"If you think you didn't receive the full amount of the third Economic Impact Payment you were entitled to, you must file a 2021 federal income tax return to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit, even if you aren't otherwise required to file a tax return."
Anyway, I am trying to contact IRS but they hangs up every calls due to high call volume.
