How do we amend reject code ind 517 02? We fixed our dependent's form, but ours continues to get rejected.

Reject code IND-517 indicates a dependent listed on your return has already been claimed on another return as either the taxpayer or the spouse.

The 02 is the second person listed.

You will not amend the return, but simply correct it.

• You will have to work this out with your spouse.
• You will have to correct the your filing status to married filing separately.
• Or if divorced eliminate them from your return.
