Hi
My wife is getting a new job and has to fill out a new W4. I have the same job, but will be looking into amending my current W4.
The W4 format has changed the last year or so. We have to figure out from a table how much we should additionally take out from our salaries. My question is - how can I fill out the W4s so that the additional tax withheld is taken out between both salaries and not one? e.g. if our additional withholding is 5000 can I do 2000 on one W4, 3000 on the other?

Hello @yaso86
Yes, you can each take additional withholding from your salaries. This additional withholding will be reported on line 4c of your W-4 form. You and your spouse will each fill out your own W-4 form with your employer.
You can always use this W-4 Calculator to determine your estimated tax withholdings.
You can update your W-4 form anytime during the year with your employer.
Hope this helps!
