Check the box in the personal information section.

How do i take a deduction for wife being blind ?

You enter in MY INFO that your spouse is legally blind when you are answering the questions about her.  An extra $1500 will be added to your standard deduction on line 12 of your Form 1040.

Your standard deduction lowers your taxable income. The standard deduction makes some of your income “tax free.”  It is not a refund.  You will see your standard or itemized deduction amount on line 12 of your 2023 Form 1040.

2023 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS

SINGLE $13,850  (65 or older/legally blind + $1850)

MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $13,850  (65 or older/legally blind + $1500)

MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $27,700  (65+/legally blind) )  + $1500 per spouse

HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD  $20,800 (65 or older/blind)  + $1850)

There is no deduction for being blind.  There is an increase in the Standard Deduction for being blind.  When you were entering personal information in the My Info section you were asked if the persona was blind.  If you selected this, the TurboTax program will increase the Standard Deduction on your tax return by $1,500.
