How do I re-download turbo tax 2015 on my computer?

My present file will not open. It is now a pdf file. Suspect a Windows software conversion caused the problem. Want to reinstall turbotax 2015 which I already purchased.

After you get the program reinstalled the first thing to do before you open your tax return is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program.

Do you still have the tax data file ending in .tax2015?  Search your computer for it.  That's what you need to open in the program.  Or if you have the 2014 tax file (.tax2014) you can start a new return and transfer again.  And in Windows be sure to manually save often.  The Windows Turbo Tax doesn't automatically save.  So go to FILE - SAVE or SAVE AS  frequently as you enter data.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

You can also get free transcripts of your federal return from the IRS - http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript

For a fee of $50 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

 The 2019 online editions are available so you can start a 2019 tax return using the Free edition then upgrade and pay for Plus so that you can access the prior year online tax returns - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/

1. Select Upgrade in the left-hand menu. (If you can't see it, select the menu icon in the upper-left corner, and/or select Take me to my return if you're not in your return yet.).
2. In the new window, select PLUS, then select Upgrade Now (if PLUS is grayed-out, skip this step).
3. Now you're ready to pay. On the left side, select File.
4. Keep going until you reach the Just a few steps left... screen. On this screen, select Start next to Step 1: Review your order and follow the screens to pay with your credit card (don't pay with your refund if you see that option).
5. After you've paid, select Tax Home on the left side. This will take you to You're doing great. Keep going!
6. Select Show next to Your tax returns documents to expand the prior-year list and then select Download/print return (PDF) for the tax year you want.

I have lost the discs for turbo tax for 2015 and 2016 however I have the installation keys for both years. I am unable to get anything to download on the Canadian site as we have 21 numbers not 14

It is likely due to different system compatibility. Try reinstalling the program.

This thread was from an earlier year, the 2019 date is just the date it was moved to the new board.  Turbotax 2015 and earlier are no longer supported.  They may or may not open, depending on your system, but Turbotax does not provide fixes or troubleshooting any longer.

If you need a copy of your 2015 return and did not save a copy of your return in PDF format, you can request a transcript from the IRS.

What files do you have on your computer?  Like the pdf file or tax file ending in .tax2015?  As the post above says you can no longer download the 2015 program to open your return..   Or did you use the Online version?

Sorry you can't use Turbo Tax.  And it's too late to get any refunds for 2015 now.

You might want to go to a local accountant or tax place if you have a complicated return.  For simple returns you can fill out the forms by hand.

Don’t forget your state.  And you will have to print and mail your returns.  So be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.
