How do I notify IRS that spouse is deceased?

In the personal information section (My Info from the left menu), under your spouse's name, click on Edit, and then you can click yes next to ''I am preparing this return for [Spouse's name] who has passed away before filing this return''. A drop-down will appear and ask you to enter the date of passing. I am sorry for your loss.

it has been posted here that filers in your situation can't e-file using turboTax.

It is also reported that it works fine using a different tax software provider.
