How do I get my information from TurboTax online onto my computer to then use with the CD version so I don't have to redo all my information? (CD was much cheaper.)

2020 taxes are ready to submit, but the CD is much cheaper than using the online version.  I didn't realize they were separate, and I assumed once I finished that I would have the option to apply the CD code online...couldn't.

To transfer a previous years data from Online to Desktop you should follow these steps.

1. Go to TurboTax Online and start a 2020 Online return using the same login you used last year. This will transfer your 2019 data over.
2. After the screen has loaded, select the Tax Tools drop-down menu in the left-hand column, and then select Tools.
3. In the pop-up window, select the Save your return to your computer.
4. Now, open the .tax2020 file (which contains the transferred 2019 info) in TurboTax for Windows:
5. Open your TurboTax Desktop 2020 program.
6. From the File menu, select Open Tax Return.
7. Browse to where you saved the .tax2020 file, and then click Open.

(Optional) Review, edit, or delete the transferred information.

Tried that, several times...It won't save my info as a tax file.  Starting from the disc, it can't find the file either.  I gave up!!!!
