How do I assign a downloaded 1099 (such as a 1099-INT) to my child so that it shows up as the child's income rather than the taxpayer's income?

When reviewing downloaded 1099's, the only options for assigning 'This 1099-INT belongs to...' are the taxpayer, spouse, or both. Dependents are not listed.

Since this is not your income, you need to delete it from your return.

If you are using:

• TurboTax Online: see How do I view and delete forms in TurboTax Online?
• TurboTax Desktop:
  1. On the top right, there is a FORMS button.
  2. Click on FORMS.
  3. Locate the form you want to delete.
  4. Click on the form name.
  5. Below the form, bottom left, select DELETE FORM button.

You will include this on your child's tax return if they are required to file.
