How do I address a return that will not transmit.

I am in an endless circle.  I click on transmit return, a page pops up about one more question, I click continue, it takes me to a page regarding my HSA account, the information is correct, I click continue and I go to the transmit return box.  I click transmit return and I go back in a circle to the question.  This isn't an internet issue.  My payment for the state return was accepted.  This is related to form 8889 and I have no idea how to correct the issue.  How can you accept payment for a return that won't transmit?

Your error message indicates that you withdrew from your HSA $3,400 (if I remember the number right) in excess HSA contributions when in fact you didn't have any excess contributions.

TurboTax has gotten confused by something you entered. Perhaps you had an excess situation on one pass and agreed to withdraw that amount, then on the next pass you corrected the excess but TurboTax didn't forget the excess withdrawn (it should have - I really don't know how this situation occurred).

The best way to deal with this is to remove all your HSA information and re-enter it.

1. make a copy of your W-2(s) (if you don't have the paper copies)

2. delete your W-2(s) (use the garbage can icon next to the W-2(s) on the Income screen

*** Desktop***

3. go to View (at the top), choose Forms, and select the desired form. Note the Delete Form button at the bottom of the screen.

*** Online ***

3. go to Tax Tools (on the left), and navigate to Tools->Delete a form

4. delete form(s) 1099-SA (if one), 8889-T, and 8889-S (if one)

5. go back and re-add your W-2(s), preferably adding them manually

6. go back and redo the entire HSA interview.

Continue with your return.
