How can I find my tax files?

Hi,

I had completed my taxes in Feb 2021 and saved it on my pc ( I used turbo tax  from Amazon).

I opened up taxes couple of times after that and software will pick up from last place I left. Thinking that it clearly has saved my entries somewhere I assumed that I will be able to retrieve when I decide to file it. Fast forward to today, I opened turbox 2020 and it asked for an update which I said Yes to, then it opened up the main screen and asked me whether I would like to start my new return!!!??? I browsed and searched my entire PC for *.tax2020 but couldnt find it. SW did its search too to find previous returns but could only locate 2019. Where did my 2020 return go?? Is it possible that it was in a local cache and it disappeared after few restarts?

No, your .tax file is not in your cache and is saved to your hard drive, so the only way for it to be removed is by deleting the .tax file from your computer. Did you check your Recycle Bin to make sure it didn't get inadvertently deleted?

Disclaimer: I am not an expert but I just recently encountered a similar  problem. Making a long story short, It was save in My Documents. If you have not gone directly there , then try that to see if it helps.
