How can I download a 1099 to TurboTax, from UBS Financial Services?

You can opt to import from UBS Financial Services, but you'll need to login to your UBS account THROUGH your TurboTax program.  I'm linking you to instructions on how to do that below.  Please post back if you continue to have difficulty.

How can I download a 1099 to TurboTax, from UBS Financial Services?

It appears that once we have completed the import from UBS Financial Services that the "detail" is correct but the sales proceeds and gain/loss is doubled on the summary page. This is only happening for UBS but none of our other brokerage firms. Has anyone else had this issue of the detail being correct but it doubling on the summary page?

If import does not go smooth, I will suggest to manually enter info.  If there are too many transactions, try to sum up between long term and short term.  Here are the steps:

In TurboTax online,

  • Sign into your account, select Pick up where you left off
  • At the right upper corner, in the search box, type in 1099b and Enter
  • Select Jump to 1099b
  • Follow prompts
  • On-screen, "Let's import your tax info, select I'll type it myself
  • Follow prompts to continue

A Form 1099-B is issued to report the proceeds from your stocks and bonds transactions.  The transactions will generate either a long term or short term capital gain or loss depends on how long the stocks are being held.  The amount will be reported on line 7 of your Form 1040 along with a Schedule D and Form 8949.

We spoke to Kristy, one of your technical experts, who walked us through a couple of options of how to work through the problem. We learned ALOT.

At the end of the day, being as there were probably 100's of lines of data within the 1099-B, we chose to delete the 1099-B for UBS and then re-import. It worked flawlessly! We had about 5 rows of data to still adjust, but the process designed by TurboTax was straight forward.

Not sure what caused our initial issue of the details being correct but the summary and form amounts being "doubled", but we got to where we needed to be.

Thanks Kristy. (spelling probably wrong, :))

How can I download a 1099 to TurboTax, from UBS Financial Services?

I am still getting NOTHING from my attempt to Import my UBS Financial Services 1099 Information.  I know that there IS information to be downloaded as per UBS.  I even got and email from TurboTax that I indeed HAD 1099 information to download... yet when I go to download it... there is no link to trigger the download, just a blank 1099 to be filled in.  Please Help.  So frustrating.... I am a 10 year user of this product and have never had this problem.
