I am a home health employee that put in about 62,000 miles on 2020. I made 134,000 as W2 employee. I go from patient's home to home.. The companies I worked for only pay for the visit but do not reimburse for mileage. Can I deduct the mileage driven? Thank you

Sorry--no. As of the tax laws that changed for 2018 and beyond, W-2 employees cannot deduct job-related expenses on a federal return. Your state laws might be different.
Thank you for the reply. Just to reaffirm, my employer only pays for the skilled nurse visit but does not compensate for mileage. Thank you.
When the tax laws changed for 2018 your standard deduction nearly doubled to make up for some of the itemized deductions you can no longer take. Maybe you need to discuss a mileage allowance with your employer since they are not compensating you for all of the expenses.
