I filed state tax returns, one for Illinois and one for New Jersey. New Jersey is asking for $2,768 in return, but I do not see anything regarding Illinois. Would I be covered from Illinois for living there during 2024?
It looks like it says my IL state refund would be $63. How is it that small of an amount?
If you lived in NJ and IL, you need to file part-year resident return in both states and allocate your income between the two states.
How do I allocate (split) income for a part-year state return?
If your situation is different, please provide more information in regard to where you lived and worked in 2024.
Understood. Thank you for the help!
