Hi - I'm trying to pull up my son's 2023 tax file - I have already filed it - but Turbo Tax is not recognizing the 2023 file extension. Is this a bug that can be fixed?

It appears that it's looking for files with the 2022 extension, not 2023.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF) or Download .tax file

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

If you used the 2023 desktop editions and saved the tax return, there will be a 2023 tax date file, .tax2023..  It will be located, by default, in the TurboTax folder in the Documents directory.

Are you trying to open it in the 2023 program?  Do you have the tax file ending in .tax2023?  Did you prepare it using the Desktop program?  Open the program and go up to File-Open.  Or close Turbo Tax and double click on the 2023 file and see if it starts the 2023 program.  

You may need to update the program and download a state program before you can open the return.  Oh, are you on Windows or Mac?  And try rebooting your computer.  

It probably wants a 2022 file to Transfer into a new 2023 return.
