Make sure that there is no zero in a field that is blank on the actual W2 form. This usually happens on the state information. The solution is the take the zero out. If that does not solve, delete the W-2 and manually enter it again making sure that blank fields have no data.
Do you have another W-2 listed from last year that you are not using ? If so please delete it.

This helped me find the issue. It wasn't a zero, but a Box 14 deduction was not cetegorized and I missed it. I put 'other' since it did not fit any categories offered. (NY PFL) Thank yoy!
Other does take care of that field. The needs review message means something is wrong with the W2 entries. I am glad you figured it out.
Thank you!
FYI ... when you got to the REVIEW tab the program would have taken you back to the exact place of the error and let you correct it at that time ... so instead of pulling out your hair wait for the review later in the interview.
Im having this issue when i enter my employer tax id it immediately say needs review. i try to review but this box pops up "
W-2 import for this employer is unavailable in this product at this time.
Please try again on Friday, 18 February 2022 at 09:00:00 PT"
Is there a way to enter w2 manually? I'm not a TT rookie and used TT for 8+ years and this has never happened. I do not know how to enter my w2 manually b/c TT won't let me past this error / screen message
Yes, you can enter the W-2 manually.
To post a W-2 you will:
Wages & Income
Select Job (W-2)
Enter the Employer ID number (It is just below the company name)
There are two boxes
Upload it from my computer Note: Not all companies are available to Download
Type it myself
Select Type it Myself
Post your W-2
Skip the screen asking for the EIN for import ...
