HELP: TurboTax won't stop asking to fill in last year's income, which doesn't apply to this year.

In 2019 I had freelance income on a 1099-NEC. I did not have this type of income this year. I removed it from my "Income & Expenses" section when it autopoulated from last year, so only my W-2 shows as my income. When I go to review my return, it keeps asking me to fill out the 1099 info, and there is no way to mark it as not applicable to this year.

Is there no way to remove this? If there isn't and I file but leave those fields blank, will that cause an issue?

HELP: TurboTax won't stop asking to fill in last year's income, which doesn't apply to this year.

You will need to remove the form from the program by following these steps:

In TurboTax online version:

1.  Sign into your account, select Pick up where you left off

2.  Select Tax Tools, click on the drop down arrow

3.  Select Tools

4.  Under Other helpful links, choose Delete a form

5.  Select Delete next to Form 1099-NEC and Continue with My Return

One of the most common reasons taxpayers receive tax form 1099-NEC (Form 1099-MISC in prior years) is if you're self-employed or did work as an independent contractor during the previous year. The IRS refers to this as “nonemployee compensation.”  For more information, click here: 1099-NEC
