Free State Filing

I did my children's taxes, their AGI is very low. I'd like to file them electronically in Virginia but it would cost me $25 each if I used my home and business version. Is there a way for them to file free in Virginia since they would qualify for free electronic filing?

With the Online version you can e-file both returns for Free, but it does cost to prepare a Federal and State return.

With the Desktop version, you get one Free State Program (to prepare the return), but it does cost $25 to e-file each State return.

You can print and mail the State returns to avoid the e-file charge.  Or, you can go to your State's website, most States let you prepare and e-file the State return for free.

Or, try the Free Edition of TurboTax.
