Form 7206 (not done)

This is the first year I am trying to file early (usually wait until end of March) and have never experienced this issue.  Something new learned. Thanks.

If you have self employed health insurance deductions you must wait until TT finalizes the form 7206. It is filed out in TT with a red flag warning that it is not yet ready for use. I have seen on several blogs that people are deleting the form so that they can e-file early. Although I believe form 7206 will not affect most returns, unless it is included you stand to incorrectly take the self employed health insurance tax deduction when you may not be entitled to do so. This is a new form and so that noting it was not present on 2022 returns does not matter it is necessary for 2023.

According to the Forms Availability Table, Form 7206 will be ready to file on February 7, 2024. We recommend that you wait until the next day, update TurboTax (if using the desktop version), run Review again, then attempt to e-file.

With TurboTax you won't access/edit the actual form. You answer questions and fill out items that they then put into all the relevant actual forms that get sent to the IRS. So what we were waiting for was for TT to integrate the form into their systems. They sent an email out today saying they did and its ready but when I login it still says its not yet available. Once it is, you will be able to simply finish your TurboTax like normal and it won't give the warning about not having 7206 yet. Hopefully they get resolved soon.
