TurboTax Premier Desktop for Mac is not saving the Waiver Statement. Because it is not saved, it is also causing an error in Smart Check. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Here are some things you may try to get the waiver state statement on your return.
Macs have a security feature that can prevent TurboTax from "writing" new data to your tax file if it doesn't have proper permissions, which often causes the "Not Saving" error.
If you didn't receive a 1099-R for the missed RMD (because you didn't take it yet), TurboTax's internal logic often "breaks" the 5329.
If you reach the e-file stage and the error persists, the IRS instructions for Form 5329 state that you can attach a separate statement of explanation.
