If you had been using TurboTax online in previous years, your prior year returns would have been saved on TurboTax servers. Therefore, all you need to do to access your prior year returns is to log into your account. In TurboTax online, from the Tax Home page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the drop-down arrow across from Your tax returns & documents. With that window open, you can select the tax year you wish to review.
However, if you had been using TurboTax CD/download in prior years, then your returns for those years would not have been saved on TurboTax servers. If you saved those returns to your computer or an external device, then you will access those returns from that computer or external device. If you did not save them, then there would be nothing to import into TurboTax for tax year 2021. You can upload a pdf file of your prior year return into TurboTax CD/download.
