I am sorry for your loss. Since he passed in 2017 you can still file married filing jointly as long as you did not remarry. You are considered married the entire year that a spouse passes away. You also may be eligible to use Qualifying Widow(er) with dependent child as your filing status for 2 years following the year your spouse died as long as you have not remarried. This treats your return as a joint return and you can get a higher standard deduction.
