Filing as a resident, But got a 1042-S from my bank for interest

Hi Experts,

I am filing tax as a resident for 2023. I got a 1042-S from Chase bank. I need to report this in my federal and state tax. I am from Oregon. How should I report this in my state & federal tax.

Income Code: 29

Gross Income: $2

Federal tax withheld: $0

State tax withheld: $0

Thanks,

Tharshan

Code 29 is bank interest. You will:

  1. Open your return to the federal section
  2. Select interest on 1099-INT
  3. Enter the payor
  4. Enter amount
  5. Done

It will carry to your state, nothing more to do.

Thanks @AmyC for the answer.

Will I be able to e-file my return with this? Or should I need to file by mail?

You should be able to electronically file your return.
