Our minor child's 1040EZ return was accepted, he has a part time job. Our return lists him as a dependent, which he is. But our return (husband/ wife) was rejected noting we claimed him as a dependent but he already claimed himself as a personal exemption.
Can we re-file our taxes via paper with a note explaining that the child's return claiming personal exemption was a mistake? Should we refile his return, which was already approved, noting he is not claiming personal exemption.

Yes, if he mistakenly did not say he could be claimed as a dependent, he needs to amend his tax return.
