I can not import 2024 form 1099s from Fidelity. Fidelity says they are available. TurboTax says, "The import was unsuccessful. There isn't any tax related info to import right now." However, nothing ever opened in TurboTax to allow me to enter my fidelity account or login information. This seems familiar to a problem I have encountered in past years.

I have the same problem. I can get pdf fil from Fidelity but Turbotax. It popup "... unavailable at this time". Call Fidelity they said call TurboTax. They said people import to Quicken have no problem
TurboTax personnel, please help.
I am having a similar problem. When I try to import data from Fidelity, it shows the accounts on TurboTax, when I click Import Now, it seems to be running but it does not go anywhere. If I try to do anything it aborts TurboTax with an error.
Try double-clicking on Fidelity in the Search Results, after typing in 'Fidelity'. See if this gets you to the Sign In page.
Many import issues have been solved by other users by disabling anti-virus programs (including modem). Here's How to Turn Off Anti-Virus Programs. Make sure you have 'third party access' in your Fidelity account settings.
If using TurboTax Online, be sure to close the program, and clear your Cache and Cookies between attempts. If you can download a PDF of your 1099's, you can make a one-line entry for the totals in the 1099-Int/Div sections. You can then attach a PDF of your 1099-B's to your return. Choose 'Enter in a different way' at the import screen, then choose 'Sales Section Totals' and you'll come to a screen where you can drag and drop in the PDF of 1099-B's.
In TurboTax Desktop, you can manually enter Summary Totals for each of your 1099-B categories. Here's How to Enter a Summary in Lieu of Individual Transactions.
I am having the same problem with with importing from Fidelity as @leitecrb . I'm able to select which dataset to import but when I hit Import, it seems to import and then stays stuck on the same screen. The state tax owed number is correct but Federal is stuck at $0. If I click on File or try go go elsewhere, Turbotax crashes, sometime with a Turbotax error reporting form. When I restart TurboTax, it either recovers the file which is stuck, or it has lost all the imported Fidelity data. I've switched browsers, turned off antivirus, and reinstalled Turbotax all over again, and talked with Intuit Product Support and Fidelity. Next step is try Turbotax support 888 802 0584 and Fidelity EC Support 800 544 7595 but they are only available M-F. Worst case fallback is to manually enter summary numbers and take an extension.
Importing from Vanguard worked fine. Importing from First Tech could not connect to their system.
if I was a gambling man I would bet at this point if you still have an import issue and have tried all the usual troubleshooting steps it's unlikely you'll fix it quickly and probably waste many hours on the phone with TT.
unless you're day trading options and have a lot of 1099-B adjustments (wash sales, AMD, non covereds) which are best input at detailed level to generate Form 8949 and avoid mailing the IRS, most 1099-B can be entered at summary level and INT/DIV are easy to input, usually need manual adjustment anyway.
If you have more than one account with Fidelity, try importing from only one account at a time and logging out and back in to import from the second account.
I suggest you try these troubleshooting steps:
If after trying all of the options mentioned you still have the same problem:
See this help article and this one for instructions on how to contact TurboTax customer support depending on which product you are using.
Yep, @baldietax , that's the situation. Manual summary entry seems to be the way to go for now. During the extension period, I'll have more time to see what exactly is causing the problem.
The TT product support person I talked to early this morning said if the imported Fidelity data isn't in the precise format, it could wreak unpredictable problems in TT. We did a <shift-enter> screen share in hopes of showing her the condition of the page where the imported data hung TT. But since the import page opens to "private info" which is blocked from the support person's view, all she could see was a blue screen on her end.
It might be assumed TT would have some data checks, such as checksums, frame alignment markers, reference verifications, etc. to ensure the imported data is good, but that might not be true.
@MonikaK1I've already been through the items on that generic fix list more than once, including removing and reinstalling TT, which was part of my conversation with TT Product Support this morning. It seems to be not a problem with the importing, but how the data is handled by TT and whether the data had some sort of error by Fidelity.
Do all the financial institutions use the same data format for transmitting to TT, or does each have their own protocol?
I had tried all of your suggestion and it's still not work. I gave up and had to manually filled. This is not good for paying the SW and doesn't work on Fidelity. All other financial institutions worked.
@leitecrb and @hung05 , I wondered if any of the 1099 forms you were trying to import from Fidelity had a correction somewhere. I am hypothesizing the little symbol that was used to mark the correction has thrown the data off. I've been talking with Fidelity and they will have their EC support engineers have a look.
