Federal Tax due amount

Hello Experts,

I get these two following summary screens while filing my taxes. I am not sure why child tax credit ($2000) and home energy credit of ($25) is not getting counted towards federal refund calculations. Based on first screen I need to pay $3817 federal tax but TurboTax shows I owe $5842 tax.  Can someone please help clarify? Thank you in advance.

You would need to preview your tax return to see whether or not the tax credits are being applied. Page 2 of Form 1040, line 28 will show your Child Tax Credit which is pulled from Form 8812. Your total credits on line 33 which includes your W-2 withholding will be reflected on line 33.

The amount shown on line 33 less Total Tax on line 24 will be your refund.

You can view your entire return or just your 1040 form before you e-file:

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account
  2. Open or continue your return
  3. Select Tax Tools from the menu (if you don't see this, select the menu icon in the upper-left corner)
  4. With the Tax Tools menu open, you can then:
    • Preview your entire return: Select Print Center and then Print, save, or preview this year's return (you may be asked to register or pay first)
    • View only your 1040 form: Select Tools. Next, select View Tax Summary in the pop-up, then Preview my 1040 in the left menu
