Thank you for the comment. However, we are not getting a code along with the error message. Furthermore, Turbotax tells all of us that there is nothing wrong with our returns. Plus - we fix any errors in the return before we file them.
I tried to file my daughter's taxes 3x yesterday and 2x today. Hope Intuit can resolve the issue soon. I wonder if this has anything to do with the updates that I were installed yesterday as I filed my taxes electronically back in March and didn't experience any of these problems.
Just got my third rejection after trying it twice yesterday and once today. Hope I don't have to mail this dang thing.
Same problem from KY. I've submitted twice now and both times they have been rejected with this same message. Hopefully, Turbotax will fix this error promptly.
I get the same error on e-file upload:
e-File Rejection: X0000-005.
please help on how to fix this.
Thanks
Same issue here in CA. XML error with no specifics. TT program says there are no errors in the return and to just re-file. Failed 3x already. Not being able file the federal return is preventing the state return from being filed.
I have been getting the same X0000-005 SML data has failed schema validation. 3 times on Sunday 6/21/20 between 8-10 PM PDT and once again on Monday morning 6/22/20 at 8am PDT
This has been happening since Sunday morning. My Support ticket was closed by TurboTax and I was charged the full cost of the software.
Adding myself to the list. Rejected twice today. Same error. State NY and federal.
has *anyone* who got this error managed to successfully submit? support swore up and down to me this would be fixed today and yet it continues. the radio silence from turbotax after dropping $170 on their service is really troubling....
I think the root cause of the problem is described here (shortened the link) :
Long story short: if you have an 1099-DIV with a quantity greater than zero (0.00) for box 5a, it is prompting TurboTax to introduce a QBI (Qualified Business Income) deduction automatically. This in turn, creates a company name of "n/a" for said deduction. See below:
That forward slash (/) is very problematic when dealing with XML (computer file format) which is what the IRS expects. That character is throwing it off kilter and making it being rejected. This QBI thing is not optional. TurboTax just sees the value on the 1099-DIV 5a and gives no choice but to include it (with the said bad name of n/a).
Time to make this more visible to the support team, please re-tweet: https://bit.ly/3hQxJsJ
I resubmitted at 11:43 and so far did not get a rejected message. I finally have the "Pending " status when I checked which I did not get yesterday. Fingers crossed. I hope things got fixed so everyone can finally submit without problems.
We purchase this product to make filing easy. Why should we have to print copy and mail? Is there some one with your company who can get to the bottom of the problem and provide solutions? I have had submission problems for two of the last three years. Maybe its time to try another product.
xml data failed schema issue.
Same issue here in Ohio. Tried to submit a third time.
tried a fourth time here, fingers crossed. currently pending.
