extra withhold

What exactly does extra tax withhold mean on W4 and what would be the purpose to have extra tax withhold for a paycheck? I asking to see if it is something I should change on my W4.

If you have balance due or want a bigger refund, you would choose to have more taken out of each check. If you got paid twice a month, it would withhold the extra 24 times. It comes out of every check.
