Extension Rejected, But TurboTax Payment-Due Amount Not Updating (Still $0)

I filed an extension and it was rejected for the reason below. I believe the pending tax payment (via bank withdrawal) should be canceled. Issue: However when I open TurboTax the federal taxes due is still $0. This is the case both if I go to my pending federal return AND if I attempt to re-request an extension. How do I fix this? Rejection reason: Taxpayer TIN in the Return Header must not be the same as a TIN of a previously accepted electronic return for the return type and tax period indicated in the tax return.

I apologize. My statement did not indeed make sense. It should have read if the extension does not go through, the payment will not process. @ericcox3

@CarissaM THANK YOU! It would be great if this info could be better documented or - even better - addressed within TurboTax. I've spent WAY too long trying to find this out, and it looks like I'm not alone.
