EV, Home Energy, & Child Tax credits

We bought an EV this year, we have 1 child under 17 but only have 4K in federal tax withholdings. I want to install insulation this year before for the up comming winter heating bills start to hit but don't want to lose the credits.

I realize I don't have enought tax liablity for the full EV credit and that won't get carried over and the home energy credit would BUT would I get the child tax credit on top or would I lose that credit too?

Is this math somewhat correct?

4000 Tax withholdings + 7500 EV credit (lose 3500 for not enough liabilty) + 3600 child tax + 500 home energy credit = 7600 refund(ish) with 500 rolled over?

Perhaps another Champ (or other party) can answer your CTC, EV, and HE credit question, but you have to look at your tax liability which will not necessarily be the same as your federal tax withholding.

No comment for the EV or HE credit.    But the child tax credit for 2022 will not be $3600.   That was only for 2021.   For 2022 the CTC is back to the old amount---$2000 for a child under the age of 17.

Ok, wasn't sure about the CTC so if my tax liability is say 6500 and have 4000 in fed tax withholding would the EV credit wipe out the liabilty and get the fed tax (4K)and CTC (2K) both for a return roughly 6K?
