Estimated tax for wrong year
I went to pay my estimated taxes for 4th quarter 2020, paid them, but accidently put it down as for 4th quarter 2019. I've tried to call the IRS with no help. How can I make this right and have the payment applied for my 2020 taxes? I paid the taxes using EFTPS.

no one at TT or this forum can help you. you just have to keep calling the IRS. note if you filed your 2019 return and it has been processed and any refund was made or you paid the balance due the IRS might refund the payment which could cause underpayment penalties for 2020. keep calling.

Thank you. I've been calling, but haven't been able to get the IRS to answer. I'll keep trying.
