When amending a 1040-X 2022 filing I receive an error message in the check for errors: "You either didn't enter a signature date or entered an invalid signature date. Your signature date must be on or after 01/01/2023 through 12/31/2023." The signature date that is pre-filled in (and rejected by the software) is 02/21/2024, which is the date I think I filed the first amendment.) Today's date is 02/18/2026. What date shall I use here?
(I have up until 02/21/2027 to amend the 1040-X, don't I?)
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
The date is used for e-filing. You will not be able to e-file this amendment, so use 12/31/2023 to get rid of the error.
