Entering Info for Trust - Asking for Created on Date

My father passed away with a trust. The trust became irrevocable upon his death and I got an EIN for it. I’m filling out the 1041 and it asked the date the entity was created. Is that the original date of the trust or the date when he died and the trust got a new EIN?
