followed steps in changing email in my profile. still getting email at old email address despite it not showing in profile. Old email will go away soon. what am I missing?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, followed those steps two months ago and have logged in and verified the new address is showing. Also got email update note in inbox of new email which I verified. Yet still get reminder emails from "[email address removed]" in old email.
This process of changing emails has raised issues on other sites. Seems on many sites there is a email setting for marketing and reminder types of messages that does not change despite what I can see. Could that be the case?
