I USED MY 2022 HOME & BUSINESS TURBOTAX TO EFILE MY 1099-MISC FORMS. I GOT AN EMAIL SAYING THEY HAD BEEN ACCEPTED. HOW CAN I CONFIRM THIS WITH THE IRS? OR DO I NEED TO FILE A 1096?

I used my Turbo Tax, Home & Business, for the 1st time, to do what I believe was e-file the 1099-Misc. forms.

How can I verify that what I think I did actually took place?

If you received an email that they had been accepted, then that IS your verification that what you think you did actually took place.  If you want to verify it with the IRS, you can call 800-829-1040. (Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday-Friday, your local time — except Alaska and Hawaii which are Pacific time.)

Yes, you do need to file Form 1096 with the IRS. This form is typically e-filed with the IRS along with Forms 1099 and should be available from the Quick Employer Forms home page. There is no need to confirm receipt by the IRS for either form.

Remember to send out the 1099's to the recipients (via email or postal mail).

So, you are telling me I need to go ahead and send a 1096 to the IRS.  I have read that may not be necessary, but I can't actually find that info on the instructions to verify this. But you are saying I don't need to send the 1099-Misc forms  to the IRS, but I do need to send the 1096 like I would normally do if I had done the 1099-Misc forms by hand. Is that correct?

No. A Form 1096 is not needed when you e-file the 1099-MISC.  The link will take you to a page of FAQs about Quick Employer Forms. As indicated by our tax expert, you do not need to file it separately when you e-file your forms to the IRS because it is automated.

Keep in mind that Form 1099-NEC replaces the Form 1099-MISC for the payment of services to a single person when paid $600 or more in the calendar year.
