Editing actual forms

I have been using Turbo Tax for twenty-five years. In previous years you could go to the actual form and edit something but from what I have seen it's not the case this year?  If there's an error it's much easier to fix the actual form than to search through the questions in the app.

Is this true that you cannot edit an actual form?

Thanks.

We cannot tell if you are using desktop download or online TurboTax.  Only desktop download has forms mode.   With online TurboTax, you do not have direct access to the forms.  You can only preview Form 1040 and Schedules 1,2 or 3.  You cannot make direct entries to any forms in online----all of your information must be entered via the interview screens.

After you pay your online TT fees, you can see the other forms and schedules.

You can still switch to Forms mode in the Desktop program.   Are you using the Online version this year?   Is your computer not able to install the Desktop program?

You can’t replace (override) a calculated amount on forms using TurboTax Online. You can only override in TurboTax Desktop.

Refer to the TurboTax article How do I override (replace) an amount calculated by TurboTax? for step by step instructions.

Thanks.  I don't understand why:Under normal circumstances, you shouldn't have to override anything. Returns that contain overrides cannot be e-filed and may not be covered under our 100% Accurate Calculation Guarantee. We're providing these instructions to customers who understand the risks, but wish to proceed anyhow.

Rather than going through all of the sections in Turbo Tax correcting a form is much easier but then there's a penalty for doing so.  That does't make sense.
