Hello Irene,
Where is this workaround in TurboTax, please? It does not come up in the online, FreeFile version. This would be the most sensible solution, so your help would be very welcome.
Enter the amounts of both stimulus payments that you received.
TurboTax will compare your one or two stimulus payment amounts to the computations within TurboTax. The computations within TurboTax are based upon the information that you have entered into the tax software. If you are due an additional amount, it will be issued as a Rebate Recovery Credit (RRC) on line 30 of the 2020 1040 tax return.
In TurboTax Online, you are prompted to input stimulus check 1 and stimulus check 2 information under Review down the left hand side of the screen.
You can access your stimulus check choices by following these steps:

Thanks for the informative reply. Unfortunately, TurboTax continues to ignore the fact that my wife is not a citizen and does not have a SSN, and therefore is not eligible for the stimulus payment. There is no place to update the amount that TurboTax calculates, which is the issue I've been having. It does not recognise that one person has no SSN, and therefore shouldn't be credited. I appreciate your help, so if you know how to make this change, and where in the application, that would be appreciated.
It depends. There is a workaround for this. Even though your wife did not receive a stimulus payment, report in turbo tax you received $2400 in the first round and $1200 in the second round. This way, you will not receive credit for her not receiving it because you are correct in stating that she is not eligible for the payment. If you claim, the IRS will want this back.
Before you do this though, do you live in the state of Oregon? If you do, Oregon does tax stimulus payments. To my knowledge, this is the only state that does.
I didn't receive any payments, and I live in Australia, so unfortunately this does not help. I think I've figured out the workaround for this year...submit the tax return manually since there is no solution using TurboTax. Thank you to all who provided suggestions.
