I had to amend my 2022 calendar year taxes with a 1099R. I initiated an amended return through TT desktop ed, and completed it - says "If you'd like to file electronically click on the 'file' tab above to proceed".
I do that but then it says "E-filing is closed for the Season". TT doesn't seem to be understanding that I have an amended return (despite creating one in TT and having the original there too). Would be so much cleaner to deal with this electronically - has anyone gotten it to work? Thanks!

E-filing is closed and you have to print and mail now. Sorry that the desktop program is wrong.
No, @taxlady28 is correct.
Thank you @JohnB5677 and @taxlady28 for bringing my search for e-filing to an end.
Do I just mail form 1040X? - I don't need to include all the other attachments like 8949 etc that weren't affected?
No where does 1040X explicitly state what I owe the IRS - my total refund is $30 less than the original filing. So I just include a check for $30?
Thanks!
Your welcomed!
Appreciate the rundown of what I need to do @JohnB5677. There's a note in TT that the refund counter will (or may) reset to 0 for an amendment. Makes sense, but mine is ~$200 refund right of the bat. I literally have entered nothing, but just started the amendment process. Not sure why this is happening.
I think your on the very first screen. If you go forward one more step the "Tax Counter" will go to zero.
Actually @JohnB5677 it stays like that even as I'm to the point of entering my 1099R.... The counter dropped from my original (greater) refund amount to ~200 upon starting the process and has stayed at that amount. Entering my amendment knocks of $30, but again, still seeing a refund.
I even deleted the amendment and repeated the whole thing and it happens again.
I figured out what's happening - but not why - the second I start an amended return, TT says I have ~900 dollars less income than previously stated. I didn't entire a darn thing at this point - this just happens immediately and I see it on the proto1040X that TT is generating.
Make sure you are using these guidelines when amending. If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been submitted, you should follow these guidelines.
