No, if you have earned more than $1500 only paid version is an option.
The other "tax expert" may be an expert in tax preparation, but his grasp of English is about as good as Trump's grasp of ethics. The correct answer is, "No, TurboTax Free does not cover Schedule B." It only covers interest/dividend income up to the $1,500 limit, after which Schedule B is required, and you will have to upgrade to one of the paid versions (anyone above the free version will cover Schedule B). Unfortunately, most of the free software programs will cover Schedule B, by themselves. However, if you are unwilling or unable to purchase any of these programs, I suggest you to the website IRS.gov/FreeFile. They may not offer the hand-holding the "big boys" do, but they will get you where you want to go if you are patient and willing to work a little.
