Does the turbotax free version cover schedule B?

Thanks for your reply. However, i do need to file schedule B for the amount of int is more than $1500. So I guess from your response, the schedule B is not covered by the free edition right?

Yes. TurboTax Free Edition is an online-only product that supports simple tax returns that can be filed on Form 1040 without any attached schedules.

Simple tax situations covered in TurboTax Free Edition:

  • W-2 income
  • Unemployment income
  • Limited interest and dividend income reported on a 1099-INT or 1099-DIV
  • Claiming the standard deduction
  • Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC)
  • Child tax credits

Situations not covered in TurboTax Free Edition include:

  • Itemized deductions
  • Business or 1099-MISC income
  • Stock sales
  • Rental property income
  • Credits, deductions, and income reported on schedules 1–3, such as the Student Loan Interest Deduction

Does the turbotax free version cover schedule B?

No, if you have earned more than $1500 only paid version is an option.

Does the turbotax free version cover schedule B?

The other "tax expert" may be an expert in tax preparation, but his grasp of English is about as good as Trump's grasp of ethics. The correct answer is, "No, TurboTax Free does not cover Schedule B." It only covers interest/dividend income up to the $1,500 limit, after which Schedule B is required, and you will have to upgrade to one of the paid versions (anyone above the free version will cover Schedule B). Unfortunately, most of the free software programs will cover Schedule B, by themselves. However, if you are unwilling or unable to purchase any of these programs, I suggest you to the website IRS.gov/FreeFile. They may not offer the hand-holding the "big boys" do, but they will get you where you want to go if you are patient and willing to work a little.
