does self employment type of work matter and/or which is best?

I am adding some 1099's, just some additional income I got after I was laid off last year, the bulk of my income is from W2. 

I was going to put 'consultant', more specifically it was content strategy, but wasn't sure if there was a better choice?

No, consultant would be a reasonable type of work to list.  After you enter all your income be sure to check out What self-employed expenses can I deduct? to capture the expenses you are allowed to take.
