Do not File Form not Final 2025

We e-filed our federal form and then went to print it and it states on our copy "Do not file form not final". Then I noticed vouchers paying over 4 different times and we wanted to pay at once and told it to. Please advise. This is the first year we have ever had these issues with Turbo Tax.

Do not File Form not Final 2025

The Form 1040-ES are for paying 2026 estimated taxes.  You do not have to use those if you do not wish to do so.  They are not reported to the IRS and would have to be mailed with a check to the IRS if you ever decided to use those forms.

If you have 2025 federal taxes owed go to this IRS payment website to make a payment - https://www.irs.gov/payments

We are using the 1040 with schedule A tax form.

How do you get the "do not file form not final" off our copies?

We only owe taxes for 2025 and there are not penalties, we are paying it 100% at once. That is what we selected but have no clue why it's taken the payment and split it up over 4 payments to be paid.

@KGLJK As stated, the Form 1040-ES are for paying 2026 estimated tax payments that would be included on your 2026 tax return which is filed in 2027.

Those forms have absolutely nothing to do with your 2025 tax return nor payment for any 2025 federal taxes owed.

Ok, we truly appreciate your kindness and trying to answer our question but you did not address our question at all. We are not sure why you are bringing this up when you clearly stated "it does not apply to us".

How do we remove the message from our 2025 tax return "Do not file form not final" that is printing on our copy?

Do not File Form not Final 2025

@KGLJK Do you mean your federal tax return, Form 1040, has the watermark "Do not File"?  If so, then you need to update your TurboTax software to the latest release.

Click on Online at the top of the desktop program screen.  Click on Check for Updates.

I apologize since I misunderstood your problem.

And if I missed again please elaborate on what forms you are referring to.

Understood.

We updated Turbo Tax prior to submitting the form, it was requiring it. So, it's been updated. We submitted the form via e-file federal form for 2025 and then when we went to print our copy it states "Do not file form not final". We pray that the copy that went to the federal government didn't have that on there and it's only on our copy or our taxes will get rejected or flagged. We have tried everything and can't figure out how to get it removed. Currently the Federal Government has accepted our taxes but the final approval has not come through yet.

If you submitted for e-file, at this point there is nothing you can do. The IRS will either accept or reject the return. Either way you'll get an email telling you what happened. If rejected, you can fix the issue and refile. You would have to look through each form because it would generally say "NOT FINAL" or "DO NOT FILE". All federal Forms are final or unsupported. If you efiled a state return, some of those forms may not be final. Unsupported forms that are required would have to be prepared manually, and anything from them requiring entry on the 1040 would have to be done manually. Unless that manual form is listed on Form 8453 you would have to mail it with your return

FORM 8453

Ok, before you can send your taxes to the federal government, Turbo Tax requires it to pass your review check first. Otherwise it would not allow us to send it. It passed the reviews. You have an article on Turbo Tax stated the following. "

Don't worry about the DO NOT FILE message if you already e-filed and

you're just printing copies for your records. We don't let you e-file a

return with nonfinal forms. If the DO NOT FILE watermark on your copy

bothers you, you can re-print once the paper version of the form has

been finalized."

Unfortunately, I can't upload the link so here is the title to Turbo Taxes article on the subject.

Why does DO NOT FILE, FORM NOT FINAL appear on my printouts?

I received a message from you dated on 3/9/2026 asking if this has been resolved but couldn't find your message so I'm responding here. No this has not been resolved yet and we have not received anything from the IRS stating it was rejected or completed. Just that they have received our taxes.

I had to update our software on our computer so it had to shut down. So, that required me to open up the turbo tax application. Well, it wanted to do an update. Remember, I did tell you before I sent our taxes it required us to do an update, wouldn't allow you to send it until you did a review and updated the software. Well I ran a couple of reviews after the software was updated for an abundance of caution. Everything cleared. Then we sent it.

This morning after I opened up turbo tax it required an update. Which is very strange cause the taxes were already e-filed. And according to Turbo Tax Article I told you about, it would not send unless the software was up to date and passed the review checks. Well it updated 3 times now it's fixed.

The next question is did Turbo Tax send our taxes with that message on it, which your article that I showed you said it would not, despite you saying it would. So, there should not be different answers. We have not received any word from the IRS and it's still showing it has been accepted but it has not been finalized. It's still printing the vouchers on it and we wanted to pay our taxes in full so time will tell if turbo tax messed up or not.
