Hello, I have a question regarding my 1042-S.
I received two 1042-S from my university (I am international student and resident alien for tax purposes).
(1) Code 20 in Box 1, 0 in Box 7 and 10, which is covered by tax treaty benefits;
(2) Code 16 in Box 1, 0 in Box 7 and 10, which is my scholarship.
I wonder in these cases, do I need to report 1042-S? I searched online and someone mentioned it is only for informational purposes and I do not need to file it. But I am not sure.
Thank you!

Per IRS :
It is normally not required to be reported on an information return. If you choose to report the income item on a Form 1042-S, use Exemption Code 03, Income is not from U.S. sources, when entering an amount for information reporting purposes.
Thank you!
I have another question. I received one 1042-S form this year, code 16, my scholarship, and federal tax withheld in box 7 and 10 is NOT zero.
How do I report the gross income in box 2 and federal tax withheld in box 7 and 10?
You can report the 1042-S as 'other reportable income', although you didn't specify an amount of income in your question.
To report the US tax paid (if you paid tax):
