You'll need to have documentation of your wife's disability status, even though she hasn't applied for SSDI. This doesn't mean you need to submit anything with your return, but you should keep records showing her disability on file. This can include:

- a letter from her doctor confirming the disability

- medical records documenting her condition

- any state disability determination
