You do not have to report the student loan interest on your 1098-T if you don't want to. You just won't get the deduction for it.
If you want to omit the interest because you don't want to pay for a TurboTax upgrade, see if you qualify to use IRS Free File Program delivered by TurboTax. It will let you claim the student loan interest deduction without having to pay for TurboTax. It's at the following link, and the qualifications are listed there.
