In order to e-file--or print and mail--you either have to pay TurboTax upfront using a credit/debit card, or your other choice is to pay from your federal refund. That choice means you pay an extra $39.99 ($44.99) to the third party bank that extracts the TurboTax fees from your refund before sending the rest to you.
