Depreciation on rental property has been wrong

The depreciation that I've been taking on my rental property has been wrong for the past 12 years.  It has been double the amount that it should have been.  The current accumulated depreciation is very close to totaling the original purchase price of the property.  How do I fix it?  Do I stop depreciating once I reach the purchase price (which is two more years)? I'm not planning on selling for now, but I know for sure that if in the future I sell the property, I will do a 1031 exchange.  What are my options?  Please help.  Thank you.
